Newport Beach, CA—They're here! The first local marlin has been  caught, and others seen, so the season has begun. Now is the time to mark your calendars for the annual California Billfish Series "Best of the West" Marlin Fishing Seminar which will take place on Tuesday, August 12 aboard the EPYC mother ship Pacific Provider in San Diego. All tournament anglers are personally invited by EPYC founder Tom Ellsworth to be his guest aboard the floating private yacht club for this very special event.
 Seminar speakers are still being lined up, but the confirmed list includes Capt. Steve Lassley, Capt. Pete Groesbeck, and Greg Stotesbury.
Moored alongside the Pacific Provider and ready for touring will be tournament-rigged sportfishers from Mikelson Yachts, Riviera Yachts and Contender Boats. Many tournament sponsors will have displays set up onboard and will be on hand to show their products and answer questions. Beverages and light appetizers will be served onboard.
 Guests should plan on arriving in San Diego any time after 1:00pm to be shuttled to the Pacific Provider. Seminars will be given throughout the day and evening, wrapping up around 8:00pm. Space is limited to the first 150 registered tournament anglers who RSVP, so it is important to get your tournament entries in right away to ensure you are able to attend.
There is no additional cost to attend, but you must be entered into one of the Califirnia Billfish Series events to reserve space. Non-tournament anglers will be able to attend for a nominal fee to be determined on a space available basis.
The California Billfish Series is the largest and richest series of tournaments on the West Coast and is part of the Bisbee’s Bluewater CUP Series. The CBS includes the Contender-Yamaha Avalon Billfish Classic ProAm, the Riviera Zane Grey Invitational and the Mikelson Catalina Classic. For additional information visit www.catalinaclassic.com.
