If you haven’t heard, the Zane Grey Invitational was moved to Dana Point to take advantage of the striped marlin bite just off the beach. It appears that tournament director Ali Hussainy made the right decision as the fishing continues to produce, with crews catching striped marlin on both jig strikes and bait. Fish have been caught every day on the local banks and the timing couldn’t be better — the Zane Grey’s first day of fishing is tomorrow.
The Zane Grey Invitational has always attracted the top offshore boats in California, and we’re excited to see how many fish the competing teams will tally.
You can follow all of the action live in real-time with a new live-scoring feature on the tournament website at www.catalinaclassic.com.
If you’re not competing in the event you can also come down and check out the weigh ins which will take place at the Dana Point Fuel Dock. The Zane Grey Invitational Captains Meeting, dinners and award’s presentation will be held at the Wind and Sea Restaurant in Dana Point.
